West Morris Regional and Hanover Park Regional Subject to Feasibility Studies

As noted in the Wednesday, July 29, 2009 editions of the Star Ledger and Daily Record, West Morris Regional and Hanover Park Regional will be subject to feasibility studies. An RFP has been released for local universities to study the impact of Consolidation/Regionalization on New Jersey school districts. West Morris Regional serves high school students in the Mendhams, Chesters and Washington Township. Hanover Park Regional serves high students in Florham Park, Hanover and East Hanover. Each of the sending districts will be a part of the study.

The Harding Township Board of Education has taken a proactive approach to the concept of Regionalization/Consolidation. The district hired a group of consultants from Kean University, Seton Hall University and Monmouth University. The Board is remaining impartial on the initiative, which has become a district goal for the 2009-2010 school year.

The district goals will be posted on my eBoard upon approval of the Board of Education, sometime in August.

Will HTS parent input be part of the study such as a parent survey?

The consultants met with a group of stakeholders from HTS in July, which included a parent representative present. The study will mainly focus on educational programs/opportunities and financial implications.

Public opinion would emerge at the time of the vote, but I would welcome any comments/suggestions. Feel free to contact me at the school.
