A school bus that walks? At Van Derveer, students take the walking school bus every Walking Wednesday and Foot-It Friday! All students and families are provided with a map that outlines the safest routes to school. The initiative started in 2004 in an attempt to promote healthy decision making and pedestrian safety (as well as easing traffic congestion).
Interested students and families should meet at the Skate Park on Wednesdays at 8 AM to join the walking group!

We love the walking school bus! Our daughter hops on at the end with her friends and really enjoys the sense of her own independence from us. We love the supervision it also provides and we don't have to rush around on Wednesday mornings!
I just saw you working as a crossing guard at Davenport, pretty neat.
